# Why I started StrongFolder

> I started StrongFolder because sharing a big file or a whole project folder was still harder than it should be: cloud middlemen, copies left on servers, long uploads, mandatory accounts and size caps. StrongFolder sends files directly from one person's browser to another's — no storage, no waiting for uploads, no account.

When I decided to build StrongFolder, it wasn't about creating "another file-sharing tool". It
was about fixing the problems I kept running into every time I had to send someone a large
file or a project folder.

## What was wrong with sharing files?

**Too many middlemen.** Almost every option relies on cloud storage or a third-party server.
To send a file to one person, you first hand it to a company you don't know, and it sits
there for days.

**Privacy doubts.** Even when a service promises security, you can't really know who can
access your files or how long they will remain stored.

**Slow and inconvenient.** Uploading a large file to the cloud just to share it is
frustrating — especially on a weak connection, when the upload alone takes longer than the
download would.

**Complicated for non-technical people.** Accounts, logins, apps and extra steps — just to
send one file.

**Limited control.** Once a file is uploaded somewhere, it is hard to know when it will be
deleted or who else got the link.

**Folders.** Every service wanted me to zip my project folders first, and recipients then had
to unpack them. For photo shoots and video projects, that alone could take longer than the
transfer.

## What did I want instead?

Something simple: **direct, private and hassle-free file sharing between people.** No
unnecessary storage, no waiting for uploads, no hidden risks, and folders that arrive as
folders.

That became StrongFolder. You choose files or a folder, send a link, and the recipient
downloads directly from your device over an encrypted connection. Nothing is stored on a
server, and we set no size limit. The one thing we ask in return is honest: keep your tab
open until the download finishes, because the files come from you, not from a cloud.

## Who is it for?

For people who value privacy, speed and simplicity: families sending event videos in full
quality, photographers delivering RAW files, editors handing over footage, engineers sending
CAD projects, gamers sharing mods. If that sounds like you, [try it](https://strongfolder.com) — and
tell me what you think at [info@strongfolder.com](mailto:info@strongfolder.com).

This is just the beginning.
